Social Worker – Locality Team

Pay Rate: £38 per hour

Hours: 37 per week

Contract: Locum

About the Role

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join its Locality Team.

You will work with children and families across a varied caseload, providing assessments, interventions, and support to improve outcomes and safeguard children.

This role offers the opportunity to build strong relationships with families while working collaboratively with partner agencies to deliver effective, child-centred plans.

Key Responsibilities

Complete Child and Family Assessments under the Children Act.

Manage a caseload of Child in Need, Child Protection, and Children in Care cases where required.

Develop and implement effective support and safeguarding plans.

Undertake direct work with children and families.

Work collaboratively with education, health, police, and partner agencies.

Prepare high-quality reports for conferences, reviews, and court proceedings where necessary.

Maintain accurate and timely case recordings.

Practice Model Used by Leicestershire

Leicestershire Children's Services uses a Strengths-Based Practice Model supported by Signs of Safety principles.

This approach focuses on:

Building collaborative relationships with children and families

Identifying strengths and support networks

Transparent assessment and decision-making

Clear risk assessment and safety planning

Reflective supervision and continuous professional development

The model supports consistent, relationship-based practice and positive outcomes for children.
