Principal Electrical Engineer

Location: This role can be based in Hampshire, Kent, Essex.

I'm working with a client in the advanced engineering sector who is looking to appoint a Principal Electrical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team developing and enhancing complex radar technology products.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of electrical design activities across the full product lifecycle, from concept and development through to testing, integration, and delivery. You'll play a key role in solving technical challenges, supporting engineering teams, and ensuring solutions meet performance, safety, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead electrical design activities for new and existing products.

* Develop power, control, and electrical systems solutions.

* Support system integration, testing, verification, and problem resolution.

* Produce and review technical documentation.

* Work closely with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.

* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.

* Contribute to the development of new technologies and future projects.

What We're Looking For

* Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

* Strong background in electrical design and development.

* Experience working on complex engineering projects within a regulated or safety-critical environment.

* Knowledge of electrical standards, compliance requirements, and engineering best practice.

* Experience supporting testing, integration, and product verification activities.

* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.

* Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience would be beneficial.

The Opportunity

Requirements:

SC eligibility and British nationality required for this role.

Defence or Radar background preferred, but not essential.
