Scenic Workshop Manager
Location: Greater London
Salary: £50,000 + Overtime
Hours: Monday–Friday (08:00–16:30 or 09:00–17:30) + overtime when required
We are recruiting for an experienced Scenic Workshop Manager to join a leading creative production business specialising in high-quality scenic builds for live events, exhibitions, and experiential projects.
This is a senior hands-on leadership role, managing a busy scenic workshop team and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
* Managing and leading a team of scenic workshop staff, including freelancers
* Planning workloads, resources, and workshop schedules
* Overseeing scenic builds from initial concept through to completion
* Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client expectations
* Working closely with designers, production teams, and project managers
* Supporting team development, training, and performance
* Maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and workshop efficiency
* Managing materials, equipment, and production processes
* Providing technical guidance on scenic construction methods and solutions
About You
We are looking for someone with:
* Proven experience managing a scenic workshop or similar production environment
* Strong knowledge of scenic construction techniques, materials, and finishes
* Experience leading teams including skilled trades and freelancers
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
* A good understanding of Health & Safety, RAMS, and safe working practices
* Experience delivering complex builds within deadlines and budgets
Desirable Experience
Experience within:
* Live events
* Theatre
* Exhibitions
* Film/TV
* Experiential builds
* Creative fabrication environments
