Welder / Fabricator
Location: Exeter, Devon
Pay: Dependent on experience (DOE)
Hours: Monday–Friday
gap personnel are recruiting for a skilled Welder / Fabricator to join a busy and growing sign manufacturing workshop based in Exeter, Devon.
We are looking for a reliable and experienced individual with a strong background in welding and metal fabrication to produce high-quality bespoke signage components. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who takes pride in their workmanship and enjoys working on varied fabrication projects.
The Role
Reporting to the Production Manager / Director of Production, you will be responsible for fabricating and welding metal components used in bespoke signage projects. You will ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and to the highest quality standards while supporting the wider production team.
Key Responsibilities
Perform MIG/TIG welding on mild steel, aluminium, and other materials
Fabricate and assemble metal components including frames, panels, and brackets
Read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication instructions
Cut, shape, and prepare materials using workshop equipment
Complete general metal fabrication duties as required
Set up and maintain welding equipment correctly
Inspect finished work to ensure accuracy and quality
Work closely with the production team to achieve deadlines
Follow all company health and safety procedures
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in MIG/TIG welding (essential)
Strong fabrication experience, ideally working with sheet metal
Ability to read and understand technical drawings
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking attitude
Desirable Experience (Not Essential)
Previous experience within sign manufacturing or a similar industry
Experience working with stainless steel and aluminium finishing
Engineering or fabrication qualifications
