Construction Planner Overview:

Own detailed construction programmes across bid, procurement and live project delivery
Work heavily with NEC contracts, compensation events and programme change control
Lead programme meetings with project, commercial, design, subcontract and supply chain teams
Identify risks around time, cost, quality, safety and change, then build clear mitigation plans
Support high-profile UK and international projects with hybrid working and overseas travel

This Construction Planner role is based around Weymouth and will support complex construction programmes from tender stage through to delivery. The Construction Planner will build, maintain and audit project programmes, working closely with project managers, commercial teams, design leads, subcontractors and supply chain partners to keep methodology, procurement and delivery aligned. This Construction Planner position needs someone who understands NEC contracts, compensation events, programme risk and construction sequencing across multiple disciplines.

Day-to-day responsibilities of a Construction Planner

Produce, update and manage detailed construction programmes from bid stage through to live delivery
Translate technical construction information into logical programmes across architectural, structural, civil, MEP and specialist packages
Lead programme meetings with internal teams, subcontractors and supply chain partners
Track project progress, validate updates and provide clear reporting to project leadership
Support NEC contract administration by managing programme impact, change control and compensation event information
Identify risks affecting time, cost, quality, safety and change, then recommend practical mitigation actions
Build and maintain procurement schedules aligned to the wider construction programme
Work with commercial and design teams during tender handovers and subcontractor engagement
Manage programme information so it is accurate, consistent and easy for the wider team to use
Carry out programme audits and provide objective reports where required by senior management

What they’re looking for - Construction Planner

Strong experience in construction planning / programme management, ideally 5+ years in a similar role
Good working knowledge of NEC 3/4 contracts, compensation events and programme change control
Confident producing detailed programmes using Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, MS Project or similar
Able to read and interpret technical drawings across construction and building services disciplines
Commercially and contractually aware, with good understanding of procurement, risk and project delivery
Strong communicator, comfortable leading meetings and influencing internal/external stakeholders
Organised, detail-focused and able to work flexibly to meet demanding project deadlines
Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction or a related discipline is preferred

Desirable - Construction Planner

Experience on international, government, defence, infrastructure or high-profile construction projects
Multi-discipline construction exposure across civil, structural, architectural, MEP and specialist packages
Formal training in project planning software
Experience supporting overseas project delivery or remote/site-based project teams
