Techniche Global is supporting an international Oil & Gas engineering company with appointing a number of CNC Machinists for their facility in Barrow-in-Furness.
These roles are initially offered as 6-month contracts, with a expectation of extension based on workload and performance.

CNC Machinist (Operator / Setter)
The Role: Focuses on setting and operating machinery according to strict procedures, maintaining equipment, and ensuring precision component manufacturing.
Contract: Initial 6 months (long-term extension expected).
CNC Machinist (Operator / Programmer)

The Role: Requires a higher level of technical autonomy to program, set, and optimize complex machinery from engineering drawings and CAD data.
Contract: Initial 6 months (long-term extension expected).

Key Responsibilities:
As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable product delivery while maintaining workshop equipment to the highest standards.

Machining Excellence: Program, set, and operate CNC machines (specifically Mazak 5-axis Lathes using G-code and M-code controls).
Manual Machining: Ability to operate Manual Lathes and Gate Mills when required.
Technical Interpretation: Interpret and work directly from complex engineering drawings, CAD data, and technical specifications to achieve tight tolerances.
Program Optimization: Create, optimize, and edit CNC programs to maximize machining efficiency and minimize downtime.
Tooling & Setup: Conduct precise tool selection, tool setting, and offsets to ensure high-quality output.
Maintenance & Safety: Participate in pre-job and Toolbox meetings. Execute routine maintenance activities, report any equipment deviations, and participate in failure investigations when relevant.
Continuous Improvement: Utilize the guiding principles of the Manufacturing System workflow to identify opportunities to improve service delivery.

Skills & Experience Required:

Background: Proven experience as a CNC Machinist, ideally within a precision engineering, technology, or high-specification manufacturing centre.
Machinery & Software (Essential for Programmers): Direct, hands-on experience with Mazak machines and Intergrex 200-III programming. Proficiency with Mazatrol Fusion 640 and SolidCAM is essential.
Workflow: Solid understanding of production workflows and precision machining standards.
Mindset: A strong commitment to health and safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
