Location: Beckfoot Phoenix Primary Special School, Hazelbeck School
Contract: Part-time and full-time opportunities available
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Team Teach Qualified Teaching Assistants to join our specialist schools within the Beckfoot Trust. Beckfoot Phoenix Primary Special School and Hazelbeck School are inclusive settings committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where every pupil can thrive.
As a Team Teach Qualified Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils with additional needs, providing support in line with Team Teach principles to manage challenging behaviour safely and effectively. You will assist teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals in delivering tailored support strategies that help pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop social and emotional skills.
A key aspect of this role is using Team Teach techniques to de-escalate challenging situations, promote positive behaviour, and maintain a safe environment for all pupils and staff. You will also support pupils’ wellbeing, development, and engagement in learning.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND and complex behavioural needs
Implement Team Teach strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour safely
Support the implementation of personalised learning plans and targeted interventions
Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and pupil engagement
Assist pupils in developing social, communication, and life skills
Monitor, record, and report on pupil behaviour, progress, and wellbeing
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals
Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Act as a positive role model, building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
Support classroom organisation, learning resources, and general duties as required
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with children or young people with SEND and complex behavioural needs
Team Teach qualification and ability to apply strategies safely and effectively
Understanding of EHCPs and personalised support strategies
Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach
Ability to adapt and respond to individual pupil needs
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
