️ Multi-Skills / Woodwork Tutor (SEND)

Location: Mountsorrel, Leicestershire

Salary: Up to £43,595 base + up to £4,787 Specialist SEND Allowance

Total Package Value: Up to £48,382 per annum

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Environment: Specialist SEND College (Neurodiverse / Autism-focused)

Step off the commercial site into a deeply rewarding teaching career.

Are you a skilled tradesperson (Carpentry, Joinery, or Multi-Trade) looking to step away from unpredictable site contracting, heavy physical strain, and freezing winter commutes? Or are you an established vocational lecturer looking for a more fulfilling, lower-arousal teaching environment?

We are seeking a patient, passionate, and hands-on Multi-Skills Tutor to join a highly respected specialist college in Mountsorrel.

In this role, you won't just be teaching a trade-you'll be using practical woodwork and multi-skills to build independence, confidence, and life skills for wonderful neurodiverse young adults.

Why Move into Specialist SEND Education?

Elite Financial Rewards: Command a highly competitive base salary of up to £43,595, with an extra specialist top-up allowance of up to £4,787 if you hold specialist education or SEND credentials-bringing your total package up to £48,382.

Smaller Groups, Massive Impact: Say goodbye to managing rowdy mainstream classrooms of 30+ students. Here, you will teach in small, tightly supported, staff-heavy groups designed around low-arousal, stress-free learning.

Weather-Proof Stability: Enjoy permanent, secure, year-round employment with a guaranteed monthly income and excellent pension benefits.

Keep Your Passion Alive: Share the handcraft skills you love without the heavy toll of commercial site labor or aggressive building deadlines.

The Role: What You'll Be Doing

Based in a modern, purpose-built practical workshop, you will guide and mentor students with diverse learning needs (including autism and communication differences).

Deliver engaging, basic-to-intermediate practical sessions focusing on woodwork, carpentry, and general multi-skills.

Differentiate your teaching style to match individual processing and sensory needs, ensuring every student can participate safely.

Help students develop basic tool competency, independence, and teamwork habits that prepare them for life beyond education.

Maintain a highly safe, supportive, and structured workshop environment.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for an individual with genuine trade authority and an empathetic, patient approach to mentoring others.

Qualifications: A Level 3 NVQ or Advanced Craft qualification in Carpentry, Joinery, or a relevant multi-skills/building trade.

Experience: Strong practical background in woodwork or property maintenance, with a natural knack for handcrafts.

Traits: Incredible patience, strong communication skills, and a genuine desire to work with neurodiverse young people.

Bonus Points: An existing teaching qualification (Level 5/PGCE), assessor awards, or prior experience working with learners on the Autism spectrum is highly desirable-but a willingness to learn with college support is absolutely welcome!

Ready to Build Future Independence?

If you are ready to use your hard-earned trade skills to make a real difference in a truly supportive, specialized environment, we want to hear from you.

Apply today by submitting your CV, and let's discuss transitioning you into this highly rewarding role.
