Overview
We are currently recruiting experienced Industrial Painters to support major engineering and manufacturing programmes in Barrow. The successful candidate will be responsible for surface preparation, coating application, finishing and preservation activities, ensuring all work is completed to the highest quality, safety and technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare surfaces using hand and mechanical tools.
Apply coatings, sealants, fillers and protective coverings to required specifications.
Carry out paint spraying and specialist coating applications.
Read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions and specifications.
Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Safely operate tools, equipment and materials associated with painting and coating activities.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with Health & Safety requirements.
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in industrial painting, marine coatings, blasting, finishing or surface preparation.
Experience applying protective coatings, fillers, sealants and specialist finishing materials.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Strong commitment to quality, safety and environmental standards.
Experience working within manufacturing, shipbuilding, engineering or heavy industrial environments.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Marine coating application and inspection.
Paint spraying and shot blasting operations.
Surface preparation and finishing techniques.
Sealant, epoxy resin and composite material applications.
Specialist preservation, damping, insulation or coating systems.
Slinging, lifting and material handling experience.
Experience working on large-scale engineering, defence, marine or shipbuilding projects.
Qualifications
Completed Apprenticeship in a relevant trade discipline.
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Painting, Surface Finishing, Marine Coatings or a related trade.
