We are seeking a skilled Vacuum Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in diagnosing faults, performing reactive maintenance, and utilising a range of engineering equipment, including welding, grinding, milling, and more. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of vacuum systems and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in vacuum systems and associated equipment.

* Perform reactive and planned maintenance to minimise downtime.

* Utilise a variety of engineering tools, including welders, grinders, milling machines, and other workshop equipment.

* Carry out repairs, modifications, and installations on vacuum-related machinery.

* Work with mechanical and electrical components to ensure system functionality.

* Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.

* Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and fault findings.

* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.

* Collaborate with other engineers and departments to improve equipment performance and reliability.

Requirements:

* Previous experience in vacuum engineering, mechanical maintenance, or a related field.

* Proficiency in fault-finding and troubleshooting mechanical/electrical systems.

* Strong hands-on experience with welding, grinding, milling, and general fabrication.

* Knowledge of vacuum pumps, chambers, and associated control systems.

* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ, HNC, HND, or equivalent).

Desirable Skills:

* Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

* Knowledge of high-vacuum and ultra-high-vacuum (UHV) systems.

* Electrical fault-finding and repair experience.
