We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Lead Electronics Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering organisation designing and delivering high‑reliability electronic products used in demanding environments worldwide. You will play a pivotal role in leading hands‑on electronics design activities while providing technical authority across product development from concept through to production.
This role would suit a senior or lead‑level electronics engineer who thrives in a technically challenging environment, enjoys full product ownership, and wants to influence architecture, compliance, and engineering best practice. You will work closely with firmware, mechanical, production and commercial teams, helping shape next‑generation products and supporting the wider business with technical expertise.
In return, you can expect a competitive salary and benefits package, a collaborative engineering culture, and the opportunity to work on technically complex products with real‑world impact.
Responsibilities of Lead Electronic Design Engineer

Lead the end‑to‑end design and development of complete electronic products from concept through to production release.
Define system, performance, environmental, and regulatory requirements, ensuring designs meet applicable standards.
Provide technical leadership across electronics, embedded firmware, and system architecture.
Design and review hardware including microcontroller‑based systems, analogue and digital circuitry, and power supplies.
Support regulatory compliance activities including EMC, radio, safety, and environmental testing.
Drive New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring designs are optimised for manufacture, test, reliability, and cost.
Develop and maintain production test, calibration processes, and supporting tools.
Support and oversee third‑party design partners, contractors, and test houses as required.
Provide technical input to bids, proposals, and customer discussions when needed.
Maintain robust documentation, configuration control, and engineering change processes.
Requirements of Principal Electronics Design Engineer

Strong background in electronics design with experience delivering complete products to production.
Proven expertise in microcontroller‑based systems (e.g. STM32, Nordic, Microchip or similar).
Experience with embedded C and close collaboration with firmware teams.
Understanding of schematic capture and PCB layout principles (hands‑on or via bureau management).
Experience with compliance activities (EMC, radio, safety, environmental testing, etc).
Ability to lead technically, make sound engineering decisions, and take ownership of delivery.
Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage internal and external stakeholders.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electronics engineer looking to step into or continue in a lead technical role, with genuine influence over product design and engineering direction
