Project Engineer / Manager | Pharma | Devon | Contract | Outside IR35

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer / Manager to lead CAPEX projects focused on dust extraction and related engineering improvements. The successful candidate will also spearhead the planning and delivery of a site-wide improvement programme focused on DSEAR compliance within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

This opportunity will suit someone who is comfortable working with both internal stakeholders and external contractors within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment. Strong technical knowledge is essential, but equally important are excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

With established contractors already in place, a strong pipeline of work, and continued long-term investment across the site, this is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team and deliver meaningful projects with the support of experienced internal resources.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage CAPEX projects, including dust extraction and engineering control improvements.

* Oversee the procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover of new equipment and assets.

* Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

* Manage and coordinate multiple DSEAR-related improvement projects across site as part of a wider DSEAR / ATEX compliance programme.

* Oversee the implementation of recommendations arising from DSEAR inspections and hazardous area assessments.

* Manage third-party contractors and specialist service providers conducting inspections and assessments.

* Lead optioneering and feasibility activities to identify appropriate technical solutions.

* Coordinate concept and detailed design activities where required.

* Engage with stakeholders across Engineering, EHS, Operations, and Quality functions.

Required Experience

* Strong Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience within a pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated environment, including planning, budgeting, documentation, and compliance with industry standards.

* Strong understanding of DSEAR regulations, ATEX requirements, and hazardous area classification.

* Demonstrable experience delivering dust extraction, HVAC, or similar engineering projects, including associated safety considerations.

* Experience implementing engineering and operational controls arising from compliance assessments.

* Proven track record of delivering CAPEX and engineering projects within regulated manufacturing environments.

* Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.

* Excellent contractor management and stakeholder engagement skills.

Contract Details

* Initial 12-month contract.

* Outside IR35.

* Potential for extension depending on programme progress and future project requirements.

* Opportunity to lead significant engineering, compliance, and risk-reduction projects within a major pharmaceutical manufacturing site.

If you have experience delivering engineering projects involving DSEAR and ATEX compliance within a pharmaceutical environment and are available from August, we would be interested in hearing from you
