Infrastructure Engineer – Windows, Networking & Security | DV Clearable
Location: East Birmingham (Marston Green) – Full-Time, On-Site
Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 + Benefits
An experienced Infrastructure Engineer is required to join a growing technical team supporting secure, enterprise IT environments. This Infrastructure Engineer role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of technologies, combining Windows infrastructure, networking, security, and customer-focused technical support within a highly secure operational setting.
The successful Infrastructure Engineer will support the development, delivery, maintenance, and improvement of critical infrastructure solutions for both internal systems and customer environments.
Candidates must be eligible for DV (Developed Vetting) security clearance.
The Role
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting and maintaining secure infrastructure environments, ensuring systems remain reliable, resilient, and high performing. The position combines hands-on infrastructure support with project delivery and customer-facing technical involvement.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting the development, delivery, maintenance, and ongoing support of infrastructure environments
* Working with network design principles, including security, redundancy, resilience, and risk management
* Supporting and maintaining Windows Server and Active Directory environments
* Assisting with the administration and support of enterprise network infrastructure
* Supporting routing, switching, firewall, and VPN technologies
* Monitoring infrastructure and system performance using monitoring and alerting tools
* Providing technical support to both customers and internal teams
* Supporting the delivery of internal and customer infrastructure projects
* Creating and maintaining clear technical documentation
* Troubleshooting infrastructure, networking, and system-related issues
* Travelling to customer and supplier sites when needed
Technical Skills & Experience
Successful candidates for the Infrastructure Engineer role will have experience across enterprise infrastructure environments, including:
* Good understanding of infrastructure security, structure, and design
* Experience supporting high-availability infrastructure environments
* Good knowledge of enterprise infrastructure hardware
* Experience with routing and switching technologies
* Firewall administration or support experience
* Understanding of backup and disaster recovery principles
* Experience using monitoring and performance management tools
* Good understanding of Windows Server and Active Directory environments
* Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure and networking issues effectively
* Ability to design, document, and explain technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
General Skills & Qualifications
* Logical and methodical approach to problem solving
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* High standards of professionalism, documentation, and technical delivery
