Heavy Plant Fitter
Salary: £40,000-£50,000
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Heavy Plant Fitter to join a well-established and growing engineering business. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical engineer with a background in heavy plant, commercial vehicles, or HGV maintenance to join a company offering long-term stability and career progression.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on a fleet of heavy plant equipment.
Diagnose and fault-find mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
Service and repair a range of machinery and commercial vehicles.
Complete inspections and ensure all equipment meets safety and compliance standards.
Work closely with the operations team to minimise downtime and maximise equipment availability.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Heavy Plant Fitter, HGV Technician, Plant Mechanic, or similar.
Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
Experience working on heavy plant equipment, commercial vehicles, or HGVs.
Knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent) desirable.
Full UK Driving Licence.
