Project Engineer
Location: Dorchester or Sheffield (Onsite)
Salary: £40,000–£50,000 DOE
Type: Full-time, Permanent
My client, a specialist industrial automation business, is looking for a Project Engineer to lead the delivery of complex automation and robotics projects. This role combines technical, commercial, and project management responsibilities, overseeing projects from concept through to installation and customer acceptance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of automation and robotic systems projects from inception to completion
* Act as the primary technical and commercial point of contact for customers
* Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams to achieve project objectives
* Manage project budgets, schedules, risks, and resources
* Support proposal development and scope definition activities
* Monitor project progress and ensure milestones are delivered on time and within budget
* Liaise with customers, suppliers, and project partners throughout the project lifecycle
* Produce and maintain project documentation and reporting
Requirements
* Degree-qualified in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a Project Engineering or Project Management role
* Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices
* Experience managing budgets, schedules, risks, and stakeholder relationships
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
* Broad engineering understanding across automation, robotics, manufacturing, software, or electromechanical systems
* Comfortable working directly with customers and leading technical discussions
* Willingness to travel occasionally, including overnight stays when required
