Are you a qualified Teacher with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and looking for greater flexibility in your career?
Smile Education is currently recruiting for a Resource Base teacher at a school based in Birmingham (B8). This position is based full time from September 2026 on a Primary Resource Base, assisting pupils with complex learning needs such as ASC. Working alongside a SENDCo and a team of SEND Teaching Assistants to support learners with high needs.
The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will:
Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to individual learning needs
Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language Needs, and Moderate Learning Difficulties
Create a positive and supportive learning environment
Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual pupils
Manage behaviour effectively and promote positive outcomes
Work collaboratively with support staff and other professionals
Follow school policies and EHCP targets where requiredEssential Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have recent UK-based teaching experience
Have experience supporting and teaching children with Special Educational Needs
Be confident adapting lessons to meet a range of learning needs
Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
Be able to work independently and use your own initiative
Be available to work school hours of 8:15am – 3:30pm
Provide a minimum of two professional references covering the last two years, including comments on your work with children
Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new DBS through Smile EducationApply Today
