We are working with a well-established engineering consultancy seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing Glasgow team. This is a key leadership role, responsible for delivering high-quality building services designs while supporting the growth and development of junior engineers.
Role Responsibilities
Lead the electrical design of building services projects across sectors such as commercial, residential, healthcare, and mixed-use
Take ownership of project delivery, ensuring designs are technically robust and delivered on time and within budget
Produce and review detailed electrical calculations, specifications, and schematics
Ensure compliance with BS7671, British Standards, and relevant regulations
Act as a technical authority and provide guidance/mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams
Support business development activities, including client engagement and project bids
Requirements
Proven experience as a Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineer within building services
Strong technical knowledge across power, lighting, and associated systems design
Demonstrable experience in leading projects and managing design teams
Solid understanding of UK building regulations and industry standards
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Qualifications & Professional Development
Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
