This is an up to 8-month fixed term contract opportunity to cover maternity leave.

This is an exciting opportunity to join HRConnect as a Payroll Compliance Officer and enhance your payroll experience within a role where your attention to detail directly supports a seamless, compliant payroll service for a wide and diverse workforce.

Why this role matters  

The Payroll Compliance Officer will play a key role in accurately processing and reconciling multiple payrolls, each month, to ensure full compliance with statutory and organisational requirements. The role supports timely and correct employee payments while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, contributing to data reporting, system testing, continuous improvement of payroll controls and procedures whilst helping sustain a high-quality, reliable payroll service. 

What you’ll be doing  

Processing monthly payrolls using Oracle and iTrent to ensure accurate calculations and timely remuneration.

Supporting the checking, balancing and distribution of payroll reports in line with published timetables.

Reconciling the payrolls to ensure full compliance with PAYE and pensions legislation.

Preparing and submitting statutory returns for PAYE, National Insurance and pensions within required deadlines.

Collating data for monthly and year‑end submissions to HMRC and pension administrators.

Supporting the correct processing of deductions such as court orders and union payments.

Extracting and collating data for the monthly and annual returns for Teachers’ Pensions, Local Government Pensions and NEST schemes.

Supporting User Acceptance Testing for system updates and upgrades.

What we’re looking for 

Proven experience in payroll processing within a large or complex organisation.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines.

Good communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.

Experience using Oracle HR/Payroll and/or iTrent.

The ability to remain calm and effective in a fast‑paced, changing environment.

A proactive, solutions‑focused approach.

Experience supporting UAT or payroll procedure development is desirable.

What you’ll get in return 

Salary of £25,948 to £29,500 per annum.

25 days annual leave, rising to 27 after four years.

Birthday Day Off.
