Prospero Teaching is delighted to be supporting a specialist SEMH school in Chichester, catering for pupils aged 7-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Many pupils also have additional needs including Autism, ADHD, Attachment Disorders, Anxiety and Speech & Language delay. The school is seeking an experienced, compassionate and resilient Special Needs Teacher to join their team from September 2026.
This nurturing and therapeutic setting provides highly personalised education for pupils who require a structured, relational and trauma‑informed approach. Staff work closely as a team to create a safe, predictable and emotionally supportive environment where pupils can re‑engage with learning and build confidence.
About the Role
The SEN Class Teacher will lead a small, well‑supported class, delivering an adapted curriculum that meets the diverse needs of pupils with SEMH and associated learning differences.
You will:
Deliver high‑quality, individualised teaching to pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD and complex emotional needs
Plan and deliver a highly differentiated, engaging curriculum aligned with pupils' EHCP outcomes
Create and adapt resources to support communication, emotional regulation and meaningful engagement
Foster pupils' wellbeing, resilience and social development through consistent routines and nurturing relationships
Work collaboratively with therapists, behaviour specialists, support staff and families to ensure coordinated, holistic support
Promote positive behaviour, self‑esteem and progress through trauma‑informed and relational approaches
Contribute positively to a warm, collaborative and specialist SEMH school communityWhat We're Looking For
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching pupils with SEND, ideally SEMH, Autism or complex behavioural needs
Strong understanding of trauma‑informed practice, emotional regulation strategies and inclusive pedagogy
Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs such as ADHD, attachment difficulties or communication delay
Creativity, emotional resilience and a nurturing, child‑centred approachRole Details
