Mott MacDonald Bentley is a design and build business combining the design expertise of Mott MacDonald with the contracting experience of JN Bentley, operating across water, energy and environment sectors throughout the UK. With an annual turnover surpassing £650 million, Mott Macdonald Bentley cements its position as a leader within the industry. The sustained, robust business performance creates an ideal environment for career growth.

Engineering is at the very core of what we do. Be it civil, mechanical or electrical, our engineers are based on site and play a practical, hands-on role in the successful delivery of projects.

MMB has successfully extended its contract with Thames Water for an additional five years. As the largest water and wastewater provider in the UK, Thames Water serves 15 million customers throughout London and the Thames Valley. This extension will carry the current agreement through to the end of AMP8 in March 2030. MMB is delivering work on three frameworks in the region, which sees us undertake a varied programme of water and wastewater non-infrastructure and infrastructure projects to improve the network.

With sites located across the Thames Valley region including; Aylesbury, Banbury, and Reading.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you'll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities - from improving flood defences, to upgrading water treatment works and providing nature-based solutions that improve biodiversity.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the electrical functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects. From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure that all electrical aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.

The role of a Senior Electrical Engineer includes:

Manage clients, system integrators and cabling contractors across instrumentation, industrial networks, LVDBs/MCCs, PLCs and SCADA installations, while planning and integrating electrical installation and commissioning works
Support pre‑construction through surveys, scoping and procurement input, and oversee construction‑phase activities including outage planning, subcontractor management, programme control and electrical safety (toward AP status)
Produce SSOW, outage plans and RAMS, and drive Quality Assurance through ITPs, acceptance documents, training materials, completion records and defect management, ensuring strong BS7671 compliance
Lead functional commissioning of electrical assets (final circuits, distribution equipment, MCCs), manage “As Constructed” documentation, and support project completion deliverables
Develop Electrical Engineers and build strong client relationships, supporting them to achieve project outcomes

What you’ll need:

CSCS, ECS or JIB certified
SSSTS/SMSTS (or equivalent)
Working toward professional registration
HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Experience with electrical procedures and issuing Electrical Permits
Understanding of civil engineering principles and MEICA construction
Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings (SLDs, CBDs, terminations, system architecture)
Knowledge of relevant UK/international standards, including Client and WIMES
Strong organisational, problem‑solving and communication skills
Full driving licence and willingness to travel across the region

What would be desirable:

Experience of AP or SAP
Prior experience working with pumps, pipework, valves, screens, scrapers, mixers, blowers would be beneficial
Experience of the Water & Wastewater Industry and Tier 1 contracting would also be beneficial

What’s in it for you:
Alongside our significant training and development investment, bespoke progression plan and support to achieve professional chartership, we offer a wide range of financial, lifestyle, health and wellbeing benefits that you can tailor to your needs.
