Accounts Assistant
High-Volume, Hands-On Role
Location: Birmingham Business Park
Full-time, Permanent | £30,000 pa
Renault Retail Group is looking for an experienced, hands-on Accounts Assistant to join our Central Accounts Team.
This is a busy, high-volume operational role suited to someone who enjoys being in the detail, takes ownership of their work, and can keep things moving in a fast-paced environment.
You’ll be part of a small, close-knit team, working across a large, multi-site business with an outsourced accounting function in India. This means you’ll need to be organised, proactive, and confident managing work that spans internal and offshore teams.
👉 This is a DOER role, not a reviewer role.
👉 There is no management layer or progression pathway in the short term.
👉 If you’re looking for immediate promotion or a step into management, this role won’t be the right fit.
However, if you’re someone who takes pride in delivery, thrives on staying busy, and enjoys getting things done properly and efficiently—this could suit you very well.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
You’ll take ownership of core transactional finance activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and continuity across the function.
This is a hands-on role with real accountability, where you are expected to manage your own workload and deliver consistently.
Processing and allocating high volumes of daily receipts (cheques, PDQs, BACS)
Managing payment allocations end-to-end, resolving missing remittance details directly
Monitoring debtor balances and proactively identifying and addressing overdue items
Completing bank and nominal reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
Processing purchase invoices and credit notes using systems such as CDK / Kerridge / Keyloop Drive
Supporting month-end deadlines, ensuring all transaction data is accurate and complete
Liaising with internal stakeholders and the outsourced finance team in India to ensure smooth workflow and issue resolution
Maintaining accurate records and handling general administrative finance tasks
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with solid experience who can hit the ground running.
Proven experience in a busy Accounts Assistant / Ledger role
Comfortable working in high-volume, deadline-driven environments
Strong attention to detail without losing pace
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Confident communicator, able to chase, resolve, and follow through
Proactive mindset – you take ownership rather than waiting for direction
Good working knowledge of Excel (sorting, filtering, basic formulas)
You’ll Thrive If You:
Prefer being hands-on rather than supervising or reviewing others’ work
Enjoy working at pace and staying productive
Are resilient under pressure and can juggle competing priorities
Take pride in accuracy and getting things done properly
Are comfortable working in a small team without a defined progression ladder
Can work effectively with offshore / outsourced teams
Final Word
This role will suit someone who values stability, responsibility, and being relied upon, rather than rapid progression.
If you’re looking for a hands-on finance role where you can make an immediate impact and keep things moving every day, we’d like to hear from you.
Hours & Pay
£30,000 per annum
Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
