Empowering Learning - Teesside

Empowering Learning is currently recruiting a reliable and proactive School Caretaker's to support schools across the Teesside area.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical maintenance skills, a strong understanding of health and safety, and a commitment to ensuring school premises remain safe, secure, and well-maintained.

Location:

Various school settings across Teesside

Working Hours:

The role typically involves a split shift pattern of:

7:00am - 9:00am
3:00pm - 6:00pmHours may vary slightly depending on the requirements of each school. Due to the nature of the role and travel between sites, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to transport.

Key Responsibilities:

Opening and securing school buildings at the start and end of the day
Carrying out basic DIY and maintenance tasks
Ensuring school grounds are safe, tidy, and well-maintained
Conducting routine health and safety checks
Testing and monitoring fire alarms and emergency systems
Reporting maintenance issues and liaising with relevant contractors when required
Performing minor repairs and preventative maintenance
Monitoring site security and responding to issues as they arise
Assisting with room setups and school events where necessary
Ensuring compliance with all health and safety procedures and school policies

Essential Requirements:

Previous experience in a caretaker, site supervisor, facilities, maintenance, or similar role
Practical DIY and maintenance skills
Good understanding of health and safety procedures
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Compliance Requirements:

Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Empowering Learning
Ability to provide professional references covering the last two years from employment, education/study, or voluntary work
