Corporate Debt Manager
Location: Hybrid (minimum 2 days per week in Wood Green)
Contract: 6 months (potential extension)
Rate: Competitive (DOE)
Aatom Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Corporate Debt Manager on behalf of a local authority. This role will lead the management of Sundry Debt, Adult Social Care (ASC), and Housing Benefit Overpayment collection.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of the Council’s Income and Debt Recovery Service
* Manage overall operational performance, including oversight of direct reports and team members
* Review current processes and systems, making recommendations to improve income collection across key debt streams
* Support and lead on debt management within the Council’s ERP replacement project
* Produce statutory and financial returns, including the management of write-offs across the Council
* Provide performance data, including recovery rates and debtor analysis
* Offer professional advice on debt management, credit control, and recovery processes across all income streams
About the Role
This is a hybrid position requiring attendance at the Wood Green office at least two days per week.
You will work closely with finance colleagues and the Head of Service to promote a strong debt management culture across the organisation. This will involve stakeholder engagement and attending Directorate meetings to review debt performance.
The successful candidate will also play a key role in the Adult Social Care (ASC) debt and income project.
Candidate Profile
* Experience in debt management within a local authority or public sector setting
* Strong leadership and team management abilities
* Experience improving processes and service performance
* Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills
* Knowledge of ASC and Housing Benefit debt is desirable
