Direct and control vehicle movements on a construction site, ensuring pedestrian and vehicle safety.
Key Responsibilities
1. Vehicle management: Guide vehicles to/from site, loading/unloading areas
2. Safety: Stop/start traffic, warn pedestrians, prevent unauthorised access
3. Communication: Use hand signals, radios, and signs to direct drivers
4. Site rules: Enforce speed limits, no-parking zones
5. Log keeping: Record vehicle movements if required
6. PPE: Wear hi-vis, follow site safety rules
Requirements – UK 2026
- Quals: Site Safety Plus Traffic Marshal cert or equiv
- Experience: 1-2 years on construction sites
- Skills: Good communication, spatial awareness
- Certs: CSCS card (labourer or traffic marshal)
Typical Day
- AM: Briefing, check kit
- Work: Direct vehicles, manage flow
- PM: Report issues, tidy area
