Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Reading to appoint a passionate and dedicated Key Stage 1 Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative school community and play a key role in developing pupils’ early educational foundations.
This role would suit an enthusiastic and nurturing teacher with a strong understanding of Key Stage 1, who is committed to helping pupils build confidence and achieve success in their early years of primary education.
The Role
As a KS1 Teacher, you will support young learners as they develop core skills in literacy, numeracy, and social development. You will deliver engaging lessons and foster a love of learning within a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons in line with the KS1 national curriculum
Support pupils’ progress in reading, writing, phonics, and maths
Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Monitor and assess pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and targeted interventions
Support children with a range of abilities, including those with SEN
Promote pupils’ confidence, independence, and positive behaviour
Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – desirable
Experience teaching in Key Stage 1
Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and phonics teaching
Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
Engaging, adaptable, and nurturing teaching style
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work full-time in Reading from September
Desirable
Experience teaching Year 1 or Year 2
Knowledge of phonics schemes (e.g. Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds)
Experience using assessment data to support pupil progress
Experience supporting children with SEN
Commitment to inclusive, high-quality teaching and learning
