Tax Accountant – Private Client Portfolio
Location: Central Birmingham
Salary: £40,000 per annum, depending on experience

An established accountancy practice in Birmingham is looking to appoint an experienced Tax Accountant – Private Clients to support a varied portfolio of individuals, company directors, business owners and clients with more complex tax affairs.
This is a strong opportunity for a capable tax professional who is ready to take ownership of client work, provide technical guidance and support the continued development of a busy tax function within a professional practice environment.
The Role:
As Tax Accountant – Private Clients, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients requiring support across tax compliance, planning and advisory matters.
You will act as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring work is completed accurately, deadlines are met and a high standard of professional service is maintained. The role will also involve working closely with senior colleagues across the practice and supporting junior team members where required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Managing a varied portfolio of private clients, directors, business owners and individuals with more complex tax requirements.
* Preparing, reviewing and overseeing tax returns and associated compliance work.
* Providing advice on areas such as Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, residency and wider UK tax matters.
* Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
* Identifying planning opportunities and providing practical, commercially aware advice.
* Liaising with HMRC and handling client queries.
* Ensuring client work is completed accurately, efficiently and in line with relevant deadlines.
* Supporting junior team members with technical queries and workflow where required.
* Working closely with partners, managers and wider practice teams.
* Supporting the continued development of the firm’s tax service offering.
About You:
The successful candidate is likely to have:
* Strong tax experience gained within an accountancy practice.
* Experience working with private clients, directors, business owners or owner-managed business clients.
* A good technical understanding of UK tax legislation.
* Confidence handling client queries and advising on varied tax matters.
* Experience preparing and/or reviewing tax compliance work.
* Strong communication and client relationship skills.
* Good attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines.
* A professional, organised and commercially aware approach.
* The ability to work independently while also supporting wider team objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
* ACA, ACCA, ATT or CTA qualification would be advantageous.
* Candidates qualified by experience will also be considered.
* Previous tax experience within accountancy practice is essential.
* Experience supporting or mentoring junior team members would be beneficial.
