Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location - Plymouth
My client is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor. The Senior QS plays a crucial role in managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects.
This role involves preparing cost estimates, managing budgets, negotiating contracts, and ensuring projects are completed within budget and according to specifications.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
- Conduct cost planning and control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and variations.
- Manage procurement processes and evaluate supplier and subcontractor bids.
- Monitor project progress and forecast final costs, identifying potential financial risks.
- Prepare interim and final payment applications and valuations.
- Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards.
- Prepare financial reports, cost analysis, and documentation for project stakeholders.
- Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors and other team members.
- Assist in dispute resolution related to costs and contractual issues.
Requirements
- Professionally qualified operator with at least 3 years post professional qualification relevant experience or 5 years experience
- Academic Qualifications - Quantity Surveying (HNC, BSc, MSc).
- CSCS - White PQP/AQP
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIOB) preferred.
- Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in quantity surveying within construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control techniques.
- Proficient in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, QS Suite, PlanSwift).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
