Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer - Outside IR35

Tank Recruitment is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of special purpose machinery and automated production equipment. for a Midlands based client.

The role will involve concept design, detailed design, and integration of mechanical systems within complex automated environments.

Key Requirements:

Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D design and detailing.
Experience designing special purpose machinery, automation equipment, and integrated systems.
Knowledge of machine build, assembly, and manufacturing processes.
Ability to work closely with controls, electrical, and manufacturing teams.
Experience producing engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.

Desirable:

Previous experience in packaging, automotive, FMCG, or industrial automation sectors.
Hands-on support during machine build, commissioning, and installation phases.
