This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects within a highly regulated environment, contributing to the manufacture and assembly of critical defence assets while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out drilling, boring, reaming, tapping, countersinking, facing, and stud welding operations to specification.
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
Select, inspect, and safely use the appropriate tools and equipment.
Ensure all work is completed to required quality standards and compliance requirements.
Adhere to all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures.
Identify and resolve routine issues, escalating where necessary.
Maintain tools and equipment to support efficient operations.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in mechanical manufacturing, fabrication, shipbuilding, or heavy engineering environments.
Competence in:
Drilling to depth and clear holes
Flat-bottom drilling
Countersinking
Reaming
Tapping
Positional boring
Counterboring and back knifing
Facing
Stud welding
Strong understanding of quality standards, product conformance, and continuous improvement practices.
Qualifications
Completed and approved apprenticeship in a relevant trade.
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
