Position: Commercial Manager
Location: Central London
£100,000 - £110,000 Per Annum + Package
We are working with a Major Tier One Civil Engineering contractor who are recruiting for a Commercial Manager to join its leadership team. This is a key role within one of the most complex and high‑value civils programmes in the country, offering the opportunity to influence commercial strategy and delivery on a nationally significant project.
The Role
As Commercial Manager, you will oversee major work packages exceeding £100m, ensuring robust commercial governance, strong cost control, and effective contract administration. You will work closely with project leadership, commercial teams, and external stakeholders to drive value, manage risk, and support successful programme delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Administer NEC3 and NEC4 contracts across large‑scale civils work packages
Manage commercial performance on packages valued £100m+
Support the Commercial Lead and provide clear commercial guidance to project teams
Develop and maintain strong commercial, financial, and reporting processes
Lead risk and opportunity management to protect and maximise commercial entitlement
Support contract reviews and ensure accurate monthly commercial reporting
Lead commercial negotiations with internal and external stakeholders
Monitor and evidence KPI performance across assigned packages
Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts, and contract budgets
Provide timely, high‑quality information to support change control
Support procurement activities and prepare subcontract documentation
Manage subcontractors from award through to final account
Maintain detailed registers for variations, delays, EOTs, and claims
About You
Experienced as either a Commercial Manager or Senior QS looking to make the step up with a background in major civils or infrastructure
Experience working for a Tier 1/2 Civil Engineering Contractor
Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts
Proven ability to manage high‑value packages in a complex programme environment
Excellent negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder‑management skills
Confident in leading commercial discussions and driving commercial strategy
