An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to join a successful manufacturing business. The main purpose of the role is to take responsibility for the cost-effective procurement and delivery of quality goods and services to meet operational requirements.
This role would suit someone with experience in purchasing, a strong understanding of metal products, and proven negotiation skills.
What you’ll be doing
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Managing the purchasing function effectively, ensuring robust systems are in place to purchase the right products and services at the right time, achieving the best value and service from suppliers.
* Analysing purchasing data, preparing reports, and presenting insights to managers to improve purchasing performance.
* Supporting the maintenance of ISO 9001 accreditation, particularly ensuring material test certification processes remain robust and reliable.
* Conducting supplier assessments to drive improvement and ensure compliance with quality processes.
* Managing and negotiating with key suppliers and subcontractors, developing strong relationships to maintain a reliable, cost-effective, high-quality supply base.
* Reviewing supply chain processes and internal procedures to identify opportunities for improvement.
* Identifying and sourcing new suppliers to enhance capability and provide alternative sourcing options.
* Maintaining purchasing processes and procedures across the site.
* Managing and maintaining stock levels of standard raw materials.
* Carrying out any other reasonable duties as required.
What you’ll need to succeed
Need to know
* Knowledge of non ferrous metals
* Experience maintaining effective stock control systems.
* Experience operating within a computerised MRP system.
* Understanding of quality standards such as ISO 9001.
* Competence using Microsoft Office software.
Need to have
* Proven experience working in purchasing
* Proven negotiation skills.
* Strong mathematical ability.
* Good IT skills.
* Strong analytical skills with experience working with data.
* Commercial awareness.

* Working Hours: 8am – 5pm (Monday to Thursday) & 8am – 1pm (Friday)
