Functional Skills Tutor

We are seeking a Functional Skills Teacher who can create an engaging and inspirational learning environment with high expectations for learner achievement, success, and progression. The successful candidate will value and respect individual differences in culture and background and reflect this through inclusive classroom practice.

The role involves planning, preparing, and delivering Functional Skills qualifications from Entry Level through to Level 2, ensuring teaching is informed by current subject knowledge and curriculum requirements.

You will promote inclusive learning, encourage participation, and support learners to reach their potential through effective teaching and behaviour management strategies. Maintaining a positive, safe, and structured learning environment and supporting student wellbeing are key aspects of the role.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone with:

* A recognised teaching qualification

* A clear understanding of Study Programmes and effective approaches to planning and assessment

* Strong knowledge of behaviour management techniques and their practical application

* The ability to adapt teaching and learning strategies to meet individual learner needs and maximise achievement

* Relevant classroom teaching experience

* The ability to manage emotionally demanding situations effectively

* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, parents/carers, and wider stakeholders where appropriate
