Java Developer
6 Month contract initially + Extensions
Based: London/Hybrid. Mostly remote
Rate: £Market rates p/d - (via Umbrella company)

Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications and microservices.
* Deliver high-quality, secure, and maintainable code in line with government development standards.
* Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
* Collaborate with solution architects and technical leads to define application architecture and technical approaches.
* Integrate applications with APIs, databases, and third-party services.
* Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to enable efficient software delivery.
* Conduct code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
* Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and production issues.
* Ensure compliance with security, accessibility, and data protection requirements.
* Produce and maintain technical documentation.

Key Skills & Experience:
* Strong commercial experience developing applications using Java.
* Experience with Spring Boot and related Spring Framework technologies.
* Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development.
* Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
* Knowledge of software design patterns and object-oriented programming principles.
* Experience with version control systems such as Git.
* Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automated deployment practices.
* Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
