The Head of Systems and Data is responsible for shaping and delivering the organisation’s systems and data strategy. This role sits at the centre of operational performance, ensuring that data flows with integrity from capture through to reporting and supporting effective decision-making across the business.

What you’ll be doing

Leading the organisation’s systems and data strategy to support operational and commercial outcomes.

Managing data governance frameworks to ensure accuracy, ownership and data integrity.

Overseeing system architecture and integration across key platforms and databases.

Driving data quality improvements through controls, monitoring and reporting.

Managing system environments, releases and testing to maintain performance and reliability.

Ensuring security, compliance and access controls align with policy and regulatory requirements.

Leading continuous improvement initiatives across systems and data processes.

Working closely with internal teams, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver aligned outcomes.

Leading and developing a specialist Systems and Data team, including direct line management.

Supporting senior leadership with insight and contributing to divisional strategy.

What we’re looking for

Proven experience leading large-scale data and systems programmes in a complex environment.

Deep UK utility data expertise, with first-hand experience of implementing data systems from the ground up and a clear understanding of the end-to-end utility process (meter to bill to cash).

Familiarity with automation, RPA, and low-code patterns, along with the associated control and segregation requirements.

Leadership and line management experience with strong technical expertise in utility database management, including portfolio, site, and meter hierarchy; billing engine; CRM; advanced M&T; and utility data warehouses.

Strong expertise in data governance, systems integration and architecture.

The ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams.

A proactive and solutions-focused approach.

Strong understanding of utility data and end-to-end processes.

Experience managing third party suppliers and stakeholders.

Degree level qualification or equivalent experience.

What you’ll get in return

25 days annual leave, rising to 27 after four years.
