We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Primary Alternative Provision in the Ipswich area. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference to the lives of children who require additional support to engage with learning.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may have a range of Special Educational Needs, including social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), ADHD, ASD, and learning difficulties. You will support learners both 1:1 and in small groups, helping them to access the curriculum, regulate emotions, and build confidence in a nurturing and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Supporting pupils with SEN to access learning and remain engaged
· Working collaboratively with teachers and therapists to implement individual support strategies
· Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
· Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
· Assisting with personal development, life skills, and social interaction
· Maintaining a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
· Experience supporting children with SEN (either in schools or alternative settings)
· A calm, patient, and resilient approach
· Strong communication and relationship-building skills
· The ability to manage challenging behaviours positively
· A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children
· Relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)
