Vehicle Assembly Technician / HGV Mechanic / Mechanical Fitter
Our client is a world-leading defence engineering business.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit skilled Vehicle Assembly Technicians, HGV Mechanics, and Mechanical Fitters to join our manufacturing team in Stockport.
The Role
Working within a dedicated production team, you will be responsible for the assembly and integration of military vehicles and associated systems, ensuring products are built safely, accurately, and to the highest quality standards.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the manufacture of equipment that supports the British Army and defence forces worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble military vehicles and associated sub-assemblies
Follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and manufacturing procedures
Carry out mechanical fitting and assembly activities to required quality standards
Work safely in accordance with company health and safety procedures
Support problem-solving and continuous improvement activities
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workmanship
Work to production schedules and delivery deadlines
Support overtime and alternative shift patterns when requiredWe are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
Qualified HGV Mechanic, Vehicle Technician, Mechanical Fitter, or similar trade background
Experience assembling or maintaining vehicles, machinery, rail equipment, aircraft, or other complex mechanical systems
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience working within a manufacturing, assembly, or heavy engineering environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Positive, flexible, and proactive approach to work
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
