Part-Time GCSE English Teacher (Maternity cover)
To start in September 2026, initially for one year covering maternity
3 days per week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9am-5pm
We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and inspiring English Teacher to join our team on a part-time basis, supporting a cohort of approximately 75 GCSE students.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator who enjoys helping young people develop confidence in English Language and Literature, achieve strong examination outcomes, and realise their potential.
The Role
You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging GCSE English lessons, supporting students with exam preparation, developing literacy skills, and helping learners build the confidence needed to succeed.
Working with a focused cohort of students, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact during a pivotal stage in their educational journey.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
* Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or has relevant secondary English teaching experience.
* Has a strong knowledge of the GCSE English Language and Literature curriculum.
* Demonstrates a passion for English and a commitment to raising student achievement.
* Can motivate, inspire, and engage learners of varying abilities.
* Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Uses assessment effectively to identify gaps and accelerate progress.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality GCSE English teaching.
* Support students in developing reading, writing, analytical, and examination skills.
* Monitor and track student progress, providing targeted intervention where required.
* Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations.
* Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes achievement and confidence.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure students receive the best possible support.
