This role would suit an enthusiastic and motivated teacher with a strong understanding of Upper Key Stage 2 expectations and SATs preparation, who is committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential during this pivotal stage of their education.
The Role
As a Year 6 Teacher, you will support pupils in consolidating their learning, building confidence, and developing the skills needed for a successful transition to secondary school. You will play a vital role in preparing pupils for SATs while ensuring a broad, engaging, and enriching curriculum experience.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and differentiated Year 6 lessons in line with the KS2 national curriculum
Support pupils’ progress in reading, writing, maths, and SPaG
Prepare pupils effectively for KS2 SATs and the transition to secondary school
Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Monitor and assess pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and targeted interventions
Support children with a range of abilities, including those with SEN
Promote pupils’ confidence, resilience, and independence
Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – desirable
Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6 or Upper KS2
Strong understanding of KS2 curriculum expectations and SATs preparation
Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
Engaging, adaptable, and nurturing teaching style
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work full-time in the Cippenham area (SL1) from September
Desirable
Previous experience teaching Year 6
Strong understanding of SATs frameworks and assessment requirements
Experience using assessment data to accelerate pupil progress
Experience supporting children with SEN
Commitment to inclusive, high-quality teaching and learning
Experience supporting pupils with transition to secondary education
