Job Title: Teacher
Location: Parkside House School, Ashington NE63 8AP & Backworth NE27 0AB.
Hours: 18.75 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Salary: Up to £20,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: September 2026

About the Role

We are seeking an inspiring teacher to join our dedicated team, delivering high‑quality learning experiences to individual students and small groups. You’ll teach up to GCSE level in a core subject and play a key role in shaping personalised learning pathways that help our students grow academically, socially and emotionally.

This is a role where your influence goes far beyond the classroom. You’ll be part of a multi‑professional team committed to nurturing confidence, independence and self‑belief in young people who may have experienced significant barriers to learning.

Please note: this role will be covering both our Parkside House School site's based in Ashington NE63 8AP and Backworth NE27 0AB.

What You’ll Do

Planning and delivering engaging, personalised lessons (including GCSE in a core subject) for individuals and small groups

Creating and reviewing Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Plans and tailored learning programmes

Supporting nurture‑based approaches and helping students develop emotional regulation and self‑control

Monitoring, recording and reporting on progress, ensuring high‑quality assessment and subject development

Working collaboratively with LSAs, tutors, care staff and the wider multi‑professional team

Ensuring a safe, stimulating and well‑organised learning environment both on and off site

What We’re Looking For

QTS or equivalent qualification required

Required to teach a variety of subjects, one core subject at GCSE level.

Strong behaviour management skills and a nurturing, student‑centred approach

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Resilience, creativity and a commitment to continuous professional development

A passion for helping students overcome barriers and achieve meaningful progress

Driving licence required

Welcome to Parkside House School, an SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Independent Special School with sites in Backworth and Ashington. We provide specialist teaching, small class sizes, bespoke timetables, and a nurturing, friendly environment for pupils aged KS2 Year 6–KS5. Our school supports students with SEMH needs and associated learning difficulties, including autism, ADHD, attachment disorders, and oppositional defiance disorder.
