Role: Mechanical Engineer – Test Facilities
Location: Peterborough
Duration: 6-month contract (highly likely to extend)
Rate: £38.50/hour Umbrella (Inside IR35) or £28.50/hour PAYE
Hours: Monday - Thursday: 8:30am to 4:45pm. Friday: 8:30am to 4:15pm
Global Automotive company looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their Test & Development team supporting product development, validation and testing programmes.
Working across a large-scale engineering facility, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving test infrastructure, delivering engineering projects, and solving complex mechanical challenges.
This is a hands-on role offering exposure to mechanical systems, cooling systems, bespoke test rigs and future facility upgrades. You will work closely with engineers, technicians and third-party suppliers to ensure testing operations continue safely and efficiently.
Requirements:
Proven experience within a test facility, development, validation or manufacturing environment.
Strong fault-finding and mechanical problem-solving capability.
Experience delivering small to medium-sized engineering projects.
Design and development of mechanical systems, test rigs and supporting infrastructure.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
Engineering Degree preferred, although significant relevant industry experience will also be considered
