Contract/Project
We're working with a major UK defence and engineering employer to recruit a number of skilled Welders for long-term contract opportunities on some of the country's most advanced manufacturing programmes. You'll be joining a world-class production environment where your expertise will contribute to the delivery of critical engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
Work safely at all times, complying with all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
Deliver work to schedule while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Carry out welding, fabrication, assembly and installation activities using a range of manual and mechanical tools and equipment.
Inspect and verify own work against specified standards, tolerances and procedures.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, cost and delivery performance.
Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity across operational processes.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors and other stakeholders.
Identify and resolve manufacturing and welding-related issues using appropriate problem-solving techniques.
Take responsibility for the quality of work produced and contribute to a culture of operational excellence.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in a manufacturing, fabrication or welding environment.
Competent in a range of welding processes and assembly techniques.
Experience working with various material types and thicknesses.
Ability to interpret and follow welding procedures, technical drawings and work instructions.
Experience in material preparation, alignment, forming and finishing activities.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to self-inspect work.
Good problem-solving and communication skills.
Technical Competencies
Experience in the following:
Flux-cored welding (manual and mechanised)
MAG welding (manual and mechanised)
Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)
TIG welding (manual, mechanised and orbital)
Robotic welding systems
Grinding and finishing operations
Pre-heat application and monitoring
Welding fume control and safe working practices
Restricted access, confined space and mirror welding techniques
Qualifications
Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent trade qualification.
Relevant vocational qualifications such as NVQ/SVQ, City & Guilds, BTEC, EAL, IMI or equivalent.
Health and Safety certifications relevant to the role (e.g. COSHH Awareness, Working at Height, HSE Induction)
