Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future

Senior Planner Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C

As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Main Civil Works Section.

What will you do?

The CWA is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to take a lead role in shaping the successful delivery of the Nuclear Island structures within the Main Civil Works (MCW) programme for Sizewell C.

As part of this once‑in‑a‑generation infrastructure project, the Senior Planner will work closely with the Senior Planning Manager for the Nuclear Island and the wider MCW team, developing and managing project programmes for a range of complex reinforced concrete buildings and structures. The role will support the coordination of construction sequencing, planning methodologies and resource strategies for some of the most technically demanding elements of the power station.

The Senior Planner will work collaboratively across engineering, design, commercial, construction and supply chain partners, ensuring progress is accurately monitored, risks are identified and performance insights are shared to drive best‑for‑project outcomes.

What are we looking for?

The CWA is looking for a highly skilled planning professional with strong civil engineering experience who can lead programme development across major infrastructure works. Key responsibilities include:

Developing, updating and maintaining detailed Nuclear Island programmes, including short‑term planning and long‑range project schedules

Establishing logical sequencing and construction methodologies that support the most beneficial delivery strategy

Analysing performance, identifying impacts and recommending solutions to enhance programme delivery

Defining resource requirements and supporting multidisciplinary teams on all time‑related matters

Liaising with site teams and supply chain partners to validate progress, identify issues and maintain programme integrity

Recording and reporting on labour and resource efficiency

Leading internal and external reporting across planning deliverables

Highlighting trends, risks and opportunities for improvement

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Proficiency in Primavera P6

Degree or recognised qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field

Strong experience developing and managing construction programmes within major civil engineering projects

Experience planning reinforced concrete works

Desirable: CIOB/MICE membership and experience in 4D/Synchro modelling

What we will offer you?

The CWA is a single delivery organisation made of up of the client (Sizewell C) and three parent companies - Balfour Beatty, Bouygues and Laing O'Rourke - which offer industry leading packages including market leading salaries, generous annual leave entitlements, pension scheme and other flexible benefits.

About Us

The CWA celebrates the creativity and innovation that comes from a diverse workforce, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds — especially those from under‑represented communities. Our project is built on five core values: Humility, Positivity, Respect, Solidarity, and Clarity.

By joining us, you’ll be encouraged to bring your whole self to work, speak up, and share your ideas. We encourage applications from all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of gender, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. If you decide to apply, please avoid including sensitive personal data in your CV
