Academics Rochester is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Chatham. This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 and small-group support to two pupils in Lower Key Stage 2 with additional learning needs.
The pupils require tailored support for a range of needs, including:
ADHD
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Non-verbal communication needsThe successful candidate will play a key role in helping these pupils access learning, develop social and communication skills, and achieve positive outcomes within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent and nurturing support to two pupils with SEN.
Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
Implement strategies to support attention, engagement and behaviour.
Use visual aids, communication tools and structured routines to support non-verbal communication.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals.
Promote inclusion and encourage independence where appropriate.The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly autism and ADHD.
A patient, caring and resilient approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
