Location: Canary Wharf, London
Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: Continental Shift Pattern (Days & Nights, 7am–7pm / 7pm–7am)
Mechanical Shift Engineer – Canary Wharf
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Shift Engineer to join a prestigious commercial property in Canary Wharf. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a high-profile building environment, offering ongoing training, career progression, and the chance to develop your technical expertise within a market-leading facilities management team.
As a Mechanical Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems across a large commercial estate, ensuring all plant and equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical building services systems.
* Maintain and repair HVAC, pumps, motors, pipework, valves, AHUs, FCUs, and associated mechanical plant.
* Respond promptly to building faults and breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to building operations.
* Conduct routine plant inspections and record operational data.
* Support subcontractors and specialist service providers when required.
* Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations and site procedures.
* Accurately complete maintenance reports and documentation through the CAFM system.
* Participate in site emergency response procedures and shift handovers.
Requirements:
* Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ, Apprenticeship, or equivalent).
* Previous experience working within commercial building maintenance, critical environments, or facilities management.
* Strong understanding of HVAC and mechanical building services systems.
* Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance.
* Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
* Good communication skills and a proactive approach to work.
* Ability to work a continental shift pattern covering days and nights.
