About the Role

Maxwell Consultancy are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Production Operator – General Assembly to join an established businees in Glasgow. In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality components in line with customer requirements, while maintaining strict adherence to quality, safety, and operational standards.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing engineering business within the aerospace and defence sector, offering structured training and clear progression.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacture components in accordance with production schedules and delivery targets

Ensure all work meets defined quality standards and specifications

Follow established procedures, policies, and health & safety requirements at all times

Operate a wide range of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively

Prepare and solder components using hotplates and soldering irons

Use calibrated measuring devices, fixtures, and test equipment accurately

Complete and maintain accurate production and quality documentation

Carry out repair and rework on non-conforming products

Perform final inspections using microscopes and X-ray equipment

Clean and package components ready for dispatch using appropriate systems

Maintain a clean, organised, and audit-ready workspace

Support other departments with additional tasks as required and appropriate

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential:

* Experience using hand tools

* High level of manual dexterity, with the ability to handle small components

* Ability to read and interpret engineering or assembly drawings

* Strong awareness of health & safety practices

Desirable:

* Experience working with precision components to high quality standards

* Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and 5S methodology

* Experience handling ITAR/EAR restricted components

Pay & Benefits

Salary:

£15.24 per hour (trainee)

£18.35 per hour upon successful completion of training (approx. 6 months)

Working Pattern

* Standard: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week

* Typical shift pattern:

* Monday–Thursday: 06:00 – 14:30

* Friday: 06:00 – 11:00

* Alternative day shift (08:00 – 16:30) may be available upon completion of training

* Regular overtime available at enhance rates - x 1.5 and x 2 on Sundays

* Have the legal right to work in the UK

* Be eligible to undergo relevant security screening where required
