Mechanical / Electrical Fitter – Instructor Role (Full Training Provided) | £50,000 – £63,000 (DOE) | Manchester | Mon–Fri Days Only
Ready to come off the tools without losing the practical work? We’re recruiting for a hands-on engineering role ideal for Mechanical Fitters, Electrical Fitters, Technicians, Ex-Forces personnel or those from heavy industry who want to work closer to home and move into a long-term career in training. No teaching experience required – full Train-the-Trainer qualification provided

This is a practical, workshop-based role (around 80% hands-on) — not a classroom-only job. You’ll deliver training in a specialist environment focused on substation fitting, electrical systems and infrastructure, helping develop the next generation of engineers.

Key responsibilities:
Deliver hands-on training in mechanical and electrical fitting
Work with switchgear, cabling, and substation equipment
Teach safe working practices in line with industry standards
Support learners through NVQ / Diploma / technical qualifications
Assess competency and provide structured feedback
Maintain training equipment and workshop spaces
Ensure strict adherence to health & safety regulations
We are keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience:
Background as a Mechanical Fitter, Electrical Fitter, Technician or similar
Experience in heavy industry, utilities, manufacturing, or ex-forces engineering
Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience
City & Guilds Level 2 (or equivalent)
Physically fit (role involves ladders, scaffolding and switchgear work)
Full UK driving licence
Desirable (not essential – training provided):
Experience in HV/LV or power distribution
Previous training, coaching or mentoring experience
Assessing or teaching qualifications (A1, D32/33, PTLLS etc.)
Health & Safety qualifications (IOSH / NEBOSH)
Why Apply?
Move off the tools full-time while staying hands-on
No more working away – stable, local role
Full training & career development provided
Join a growing and future-proof sector (energy & utilities)
Ideal transition for ex-forces or site-based engineers
Package & Benefits
33 days holiday (including Christmas shutdown)
Holiday increases with service (up to +3 days)
Pension (5% employee / 3% employer)
Healthcare scheme + employee perks platform
Cycle to Work scheme
Funded qualifications & ongoing development
Working Hours
Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week
Start between 7:30am–8:00am
Finish between 4:00pm–4:30pm
30-minute unpaid lunch
No weekends
This is a great opportunity to step into a stable, well-paid role where your experience is valued and passed on to others.

If you're a Mechanical or Electrical Fitter looking for a better work-life balance and a long-term career move, apply today.
