Are you a Maintenance Engineer looking for long-term job security, genuine career progression and the opportunity to develop your skills within a major UK manufacturing group?

We are working with a leading food manufacturing business operating multiple production sites across the UK, supplying major retailers and foodservice customers nationwide. The West Bromwich facility is a large-scale manufacturing operation where engineering plays a critical role in maintaining production performance, product quality and operational efficiency.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established engineering team supporting a highly automated production environment. The site continues to invest in both equipment and people, creating an environment where engineers are encouraged to develop their technical skills, contribute to improvement projects and build long-term careers.

Unlike many maintenance roles where the focus is purely reactive, the engineering team is heavily involved in preventative maintenance, reliability improvements and continuous improvement initiatives. You'll be working alongside experienced engineers within a structured team where support, training and knowledge sharing are part of the culture.

As part of a large multi-site manufacturing group, there are genuine opportunities for progression, development and career advancement for engineers who want to grow their careers.

Responsibilities of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer:

Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across production and processing equipment

Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime

Work on conveyors, motors, gearboxes, drives, sensors, pneumatics and automated production systems

Support continuous improvement projects focused on equipment reliability and performance

Conduct root cause analysis to eliminate recurring faults

Support planned shutdowns, equipment upgrades and engineering projects

Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems

Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with site standards

Work closely with production teams to maximise plant availability and efficiency

Skills & Qualifications of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer:

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification

Apprentice-trained engineer desirable

Electrical, Mechanical or Multi-Skilled maintenance background

Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, food production or automated environments

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

Experience working with automated production equipment

PLC fault-finding experience advantageous

Positive attitude and proactive approach to maintenance

Strong communication and team-working skills

Benefits of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer:

Competitive salary

Long-term career stability within a major UK manufacturing group

Structured engineering team with strong technical support

Training and ongoing development opportunities

Genuine opportunities for internal progression across multiple UK sites

Exposure to automated production equipment and engineering projects

Employee wellbeing and support programmes

Strong culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence

Ongoing investment in equipment, facilities and engineering capability
