Job title: Stores Operative

Location: Wallingford

Salary: £27,000

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

We are currently seeking a motivated and hands-on Stores Operative to join a busy and supportive team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who is organised, proactive, and enjoys a physically active position.

The Role of Stores Operative:

As part of a small Stores team, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth movement and control of materials across the business. You will be responsible for handling goods, maintaining accurate stock records, and supporting both production and dispatch functions.

Key Responsibilities of the Stores Operative:

Processing incoming deliveries, checking goods against documentation and identifying any discrepancies or damage
Ensuring accurate stock control, including recording movements and performing regular cycle counts
Picking, packing, and preparing materials in line with production schedules
Supporting internal teams by supplying materials and resolving stock-related queries
Safely loading and unloading deliveries, including the use of mechanical handling equipment where required
Organising and storing goods efficiently, including managing overflow stock locations
Maintaining material rotation processes to support product quality and shelf-life requirements
Assisting with dispatch operations when needed
Following all health and safety procedures and company policies at all times
Contributing to general warehouse duties and supporting wider team activities as required

The Stores Operative should have the following skills and experience:

Experience working within a warehouse, stockroom, or stores environment (manufacturing experience beneficial)
Good level of physical fitness, with the ability to carry out manual handling tasks
Strong attention to detail and ability to keep accurate records
Comfortable using computer systems (experience with ERP systems such as SAP would be advantageous)
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
A forklift licence would be beneficial, but training can be provided

We are looking for someone who is reliable, adaptable, and willing to learn. You should be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment and happy to take on a variety of tasks, including cross-training in different areas of logistics.
