This is a highly rewarding role for an experienced support professional who can build strong, trusting relationships with young people who have experienced significant trauma and adversity. The pupil presents with complex social, emotional, and behavioural needs and may display challenging behaviours, including verbal aggression and periods of physical dysregulation.

Key Responsibilities

-Build a positive and trusting relationship through consistency, empathy, and clear boundaries.
-Support engagement in learning and encourage positive educational outcomes.
-Use trauma-informed approaches to manage behaviour and emotional regulation.
-Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, safeguarding leads, and external agencies.
-Implement behaviour support plans and risk management strategies.
-Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews.
-Support the pupil during transitions between sites and activities.
-Promote safety, wellbeing, and emotional resilience at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential:

-Strong SEN experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, particularly SEMH.
-Experience managing challenging behaviours and supporting emotional regulation.

-Ability to remain calm, professional, and consistent in high-pressure situations.
-Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
-Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker, or similar role.
-Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.

Desirable:

-Experience supporting young people vulnerable to exploitation, including Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).
-Previous experience within alternative provision, specialist settings, or SEMH schools.
-Cambian restraint training, Team Teach, PRICE, MAPA, or other accredited positive handling/restraint training.
-Safeguarding and behaviour management training.

About the Young Person

The pupil has experienced significant trauma and requires a patient, understanding, and highly resilient adult who can provide consistency and stability. The role requires someone who can recognise and respond appropriately to behaviours linked to adverse childhood experiences while maintaining professional boundaries and high expectations.

What We Offer
