Automation Engineer (Rollers Shutters & Doors)

Location: Birmingham / Stoke-on-Trent (Field-Based)
Salary: £38,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00
Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role

An established and growing engineering business is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer (Rollers Shutters & Doors) to support a portfolio of commercial and residential sector clients. This field-based role offers a varied mix of reactive repairs, planned preventative maintenance, servicing, and installation work on automated access systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring automated doors, gates, and barriers are operating safely, efficiently, and in line with industry standards while providing excellent customer service.

Automation Engineer (Rollers Shutters & Doors) Key Responsibilities

* Attend emergency breakdowns and fault-finding call-outs.

* Carry out servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance on automated systems.

* Install and commission automatic doors, gates, and barriers.

* Conduct site surveys and equipment inspections.

* Complete detailed service reports and job documentation.

* Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety requirements.

* Maintain accurate records, including timesheets and work logs.

* Participate in an on-call rota and undertake overtime when required.

Automation Engineer (Rollers Shutters & Doors) Skills & Experience Required

* ADSA or ADIA accreditation.

* Minimum of 3 years' experience working on automatic doors, gates, barriers, or similar automation systems.

* Full UK Manual Driving Licence.

* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

* Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities.

* High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work.

* Flexible, reliable, and capable of working independently.
